The Hafskjold Family definition of Stav:
"knowledge of the runes".

What is Stav?

Stav is one of the oldest family traditions being taught to the outside world. This system has been passed down orally generation after generation, since 500 AD. Mr. Ivar Hafskjold the 44th heir of Hafskjold decided it was time to pass on the family tradition before it was lost. He has trained 4 Masters across the world, Stav is now being taught far and wide from Australia, United Kingdom to the United States and Canada. This is an evolving system that changes with the times and each new instructor that learns and teaches.

Stav is a northern European path of development for the mind, body and the spirit. Stav helps the flow of the universal life force, which governs all things. Stav training involves a moving meditation that teaches natural body mechanics to correct posture and reduce stress. This provides a low impact work out and develops deep and natural breathing, which clears and focuses the mind. Stav encompasses a dynamic and powerful form of martial art, which is based upon 16 Rune Stances and 5 principles. Stav creates newfound energy levels.

Stav has a holistic philosophy, which can integrate the mind, spirit and body to enhance your entire life. Stav is realistically seeing things correctly, and understanding nature and the environment surrounding us.

To some Stav is a martial art, craft, healing method, seidr, religion and or a way of life. Stav is all things, it has many facets and each individual has their own definition of what Stav means to them. Stav is ultimately a healthy and harmless way to augment your life. Some only want to learn a portion of Stav and that's fine because, it has a way of leaving you wanting more.
